This picture was taken for fun on March 23, 2008 {pre-Little Man}. It was a quick blurb of approximately 10 seconds in our lives & yet…

I made three of these in different variations this week- trying to use up all of the material I have lying around. The strap covers are lined but I’m not %100 happy with a few things…have to make a few more to work it out!

{more postcard pockets- with blanket stitch… i’m really into that right now for some reason. i’ve been working on these for a while & think i’m finally okay with how they are turning out. they’re quite cute}

Today we had several munchkins over for an impromptu playgroup; another excuse to bake a cake ;)

This time of year makes me wish I were back in New England surrounded by a wild ocean & spectacular foliage. But, I can’t complain too much since the skies are blue today & there are no clouds in sight.

This week I’m taking Little Man to buy some pumpkins for the house. Halloween really isn’t celebrated here but that’s okay because we will be going to a dress up party for kids sponsored by the local expat group. Lots of games, sugar & all of us married or partnered with Dutchies will drag them along to experience the festivities!

Last night we were watching Curb your Enthusiasm & there was a scene in which Larry asks (Caucasian) friends with a baby girl who was born in China if she had a, ‘proclivity for using chopsticks‘. We laughed so hard in a cynical way, particularly at the reaction of his friends who were, naturally, offended. It’s like assuming Little Man will be great at math. Well, if I’m left to assisting in that area of his homework, he’ll be lucky if he can count to 12. The great thing about this show is that he has a wonderful way of highlighting how stupid people can be.

Fill in the blank: I am ________ therefore have a proclivity for ____… Oh how I love that word, too!

{sweetie, where are your eyes? you look a little scary}

Yesterday Hans & I dropped little man off with some friends & headed out to Amsterdam to see a performance on the final day of Tenso Dagen. It was really beautiful…

Today it feels like winter has truly hit Holland. Gray, cold & everyone bundled up in layers on their bikes. We spent the morning at the torteltuin- which is a 10 minute cycle from our house. This is a rocking playground because it’s only for kids 0-6; outside but completely enclosed, a zillion toys, safe apparatus & a little cafe. While the munchkins play, the grownups sit with papers & drink cofee. Verrry nice. Every now & again little man would look up, wave & say, ‘Mommy. Truck.’ & be on his way :)

We booked our tickets to the US for december! Really looking forward especially because a chunk of that time will be spent someplace warm & sunny.

Oh! If you are looking for sweet treats to purchase as gifts or for yourself, please consider making an order via this organization. One of my dearest friends is the supervising Ombusdman for the featured non-profit {CARIE in Philadelphia}. She’s been working her happy little a** off for the rights of elderly folks for years & I know they could use the financial support.

yay monday…

Happily the weather in Holland has been beautiful the last 2 days. Blue skies, nice fall crispness- not a cloud in the sky. Thank goodness for small miracles :)

Yesterday Little Man & I were outside virtually the whole day- feeding ducks, cycling, meeting buddies at the playground. Last night I met up with some friends & we sat outside bundled up for a few beers for our monthly get together. Next month I think we will probably be inside…

We’ll enjoy it while it lasts!

Happy Weekend.
