Thankfully the weather has been relatively nice lately. No torrential rain for a while & for that I am grateful. The sun has been making an appearance somewhat frequently, Little Man & I credit our indoor glitter sun hanging in our front window for that ;)
Halloween is not really celebrated here, but every year expats from North American figure out ways to do so! Last year we went to a big party organized by IWCU. This year Little Man & I decorated our window with leaves, made a very long paper chain of red & orange for the dining room, picked out pumpkins & pomegranates for the table. He’s been a bit obsessed with a particular black & white striped shirt lately, transforming himself into a zebra {& trust me- he commits to a character}. I sewed up a tail & ears for him to wear but now apparently, he’s a cat. Today we will have a few of his little friends over to celebrate. I’m going to make veggie chili, peanut butter/chocolate covered cookies & my friends Ken & JurĀ {bakers extraordinaire!} were sweet enough to gift us with some of their amazing cupcakes.
Last night I went out with some friends to Theater Kikker festival in town. It was a collection of various theater pieces- we saw the headliner performance: Thuiskomst. Strange to sit through a play that was originally written in English but translated & performed in Dutch- it was quite good but a little frustrating that one of the characters spoke crazy fast, so I missed chunks of what he was saying.
There was also a very tiny room where you could go for a private 3 minute performance by 2 women & it’s different for every person. It was so beautiful! {I am realizing that there is no way I can make that sentence not sound a little racy…}
Coming up in November MB’s husband will be visiting for a week {yay!}, I’m turning another year older, we are celebrating Thanksgiving vegetarian style, hosting Sinter Klaas at our house with Hans’ family, planning a trip to the states for mid December, I’m sewing like a madwoman for the market in Amsterdam December 12th, getting orders out & in between it all, continuing to shuffle never-ending paperwork for various things.
So there is a little catchup. Nothing earth-shattering, I’m afraid!
Enjoy the day…

Happy Halloween!
Sometimes “nothing earth shattering” is good… it allows you to breathe, right!?
The window looks great! Hugs!
Love the update. It sounds like life is full and wonderful…even if not earth-shattering. I agree with Christine, sometimes that is good!
Lovely update. Hope you enjoyed Halloween! Hope we get to see Minh in his costume!
Enjoy your version of halloween!
Peanut butter & chocolate? My type of celebration! Happy Birthday (early) to a fellow Scorpio!
